Planning Poker is an Agile Estimation approach that is consensus centered. To start Planning Poker planning session, the product owner or customer describe agile user story to a team participating in Poker.
Every single player is holding a deck of Planning Poker cards with values like ?, 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 20, 40, 100 and 8 this is the sequence we recommend. ‘?’ means need more input, 8 means too big to estimate, in this case, split the story.
The values signify the number of story points, ideal days, or other units in which the team estimates.
Players can ask questions on features to get the clarity about the story.
Each player privately selects one card to display his or her estimate. All cards then revealed simultaneously.
If all the players have selected same value that becomes the estimate. In the event that not, the players discuss their estimates. The border estimates, that is high and low, should especially share their reasons. After further discussion, each player re-selects an estimate card, and all cards are again revealed simultaneously.
The Planning Poker process is repeated until consensus is achieved or before the estimators decide that story needs more information.
